This article presents the libraries operating in the Kotayk region of the Republic of Armenia, with the aim of assessing their current condition, development trends, material and technical resources, and the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of their collections. The study also examines the level of reader engagement, the accessibility of library services, and the processes of digitalization and electronic service provision. The analysis identifies the major challenges facing the sector, including limited technical resources, the incomplete development of digital services, and unequal access to libraries in certain communities. At the same time, positive trends have been observed, particularly in the reconceptualization of libraries as public and cultural centers, the activation of community life, and the introduction of new services.
The article further addresses the extent to which contemporary libraries contribute to educational, cultural, and social interaction. The findings may serve as a basis for developing future strategies for the advancement of the library sector and enhancing the effectiveness of the library system.
