As Part of the Study of the Temple of St. Hakob and the Main Book of Horologia

Abstract

In the village of Verin Getashen Gegharkunik region of the RA, there is the temple of Saint Hakob and the Horologion. In 1828 Stepannos Ter-Khlghatyan, who is the ancestor of the Petrosyan family, resettled Western Armenia, Alashkert region, founded the village of Ghastur (Astur), as a pleace of pilgrimage. The temple of St. Hakob is named after the Pateriarch St. Hakob of Mtsbnat (Western Armenia). The Ter-Khlghatyan family, resettled from Western Armenia, settled in Verin Getashen in 1828. Among other valuables in the temple of St. Hakob is the main book of Horologia, which in the 1862 was published by the printing house of the Etchmiadzin Cathedral named after "St. Grigor the Illuminator". The Chronology entitled " Horologia of the Holy Church of Armenia" consists of three books, the third book, in turn, consists of three volumes, with corresponding two title pages. The Horologia is unique in its printing style and a typical feature of for books published in 1862. Despite the fact that publication belongs to an individual and is not stored in any institution, nevertheless, with the presence of thes Horologia the treasury of printed books of Armenian has been replenished and enriched with one more copy.
